Date: 13 – 14 + 26 September 2014
Location: Dorfmuseum Niedersulz
The Niedersulz Open Air Village is the largest outdoor museum in Lower Austria, which exhibits and documents the workaday life of a characteristic village in the wine region at the end of the 19th century. Nearly 80 historical buildings like farmhouses, chapels, barns, an old tavern and school, typical wine cellars are genuinely constructed in Niedersulz.
Blooming Gardens and Exhibitions
Almost 400 fruit-bearing trees of ancient cultivars, managed grassland, historical vine cultures, pumpkin fields as well as herb gardens and kitchen gardens are shown in the village. Inside the houses there are different exhibits with English explanations, like “Farmer’s life in the course of time” or “Loam in architectural use”.
The farm with his ancient strains of domestic animals like pigs, sheep, goats, geese, chickens and hares is one of the highlights for the younger visitors. Ancient craftsman’s technologies are shown at the weekends. Two play yards, picnic places, a berry garden and a museum shop with regional products complete the supply in the village museum.
