Family Sunday at the museum
Every first Sunday of the month it’s family time at the Lower Austria museum. Guided tours for families will be offered between 1 pm and 5 pm. At 3 pm the museum offers an interesting program showing “live pictures“ from the microscope on the cinema screen. Documented and explained by experts, it reveals the miracle world of micro-organisms.
In the centre of the government district of Sankt Poelten you will find a world crammed with history, art and nature to deliver an in-depth view of the entire province of Lower Austria. With an age-appropriate children’s program the museum intends to stimulate their creativity and to encourage them to self-determined, personal and critical dealing with nature, art and history.
Museum & Zoo
Besides many live animals in aquariums and terrariums, the nature section illustrates the wide variety of land forms presented in Lower Austria, from the Alpine region to the lowlands. A permanent exhibition shows the development of art from the Middle Ages to the 1960s and a series of films in the museum cinema provides an introduction to the history of the province.
