On Christmas Eve (24 December) families will come together to share gifts and quality time. The Christkind, a child who is sometimes pictured with angel wings will miraculously leave a fully decorated tree and gifts after dark on Christmas Eve. Before opening the present everybody will sing carol songs and the Christmas story will be read.
To make the waiting for “Christkind” shorter, kids can bake their own cookies at the bakery and crafts stations inside Vienna City Hall or make their own gift at the Schoenbrunn Cristmas Market. The Circus- & Clownmuseum offers a special Christmas magic show and the Haus des Meeres has different animal feedings every full hour. Why not take a DDSG boat trip with a special Christmas program for kids?
The Children Adventure Train Tour (for kids aged 2 – 7) through the Prater has three fun stops and it will run until 6 January. In the afternoon everything will close in town, but there are some restaurants & bars open on Christmas Eve. The Vienna lines will run like on Saturdays. On 25 & 26 Dec. all shops will be closed except some at the train stations, airport and General Hospital (AKH).
